
Darya Bassel started her career at TV and commercial production and later transitioned to documentary and arthouse filmmaking. In 2011, she joined Docudays UA IHRDFF, first as a programmer and then as head of its industry platform. Since becoming a producer in 2013, she graduated from Eurodoc, Ex Oriente, and EAVE, and has served as a jury member at festivals including Visions du Réel, IDFA, and Krakow IFF. She has also consulted or tutored for Eurodoc and Baltic Sea Docs. Bassel's notable productions include OUTSIDE (2022), which premiered at CPH:DOX and screened at over 20 festivals; the drama BUTTERFLY VISION (2022), which debuted in Un Certain Regard at Cannes; and the satirical drama THE EDITORIAL OFFICE (2024), which premiered at Berlinale. Her recent film, SONGS OF SLOW BURNING EARTH (dir. Olha Zhurba), premiered at Venice in 2024, won multiple awards, and was selected for the European Film Academy's 2026 Documentary Film Selection. She also co-produced the acclaimed documentary INTERCEPTED (dir. Oksana Karpovych) and the Oscar-nominated A HOUSE MADE OF SPLINTERS (dir. Simon Lereng Walmont).
